To the point, Rance, what about the oil polution? Hope everything is OK ...
The diesel fuel spilled has been cleaned up. The environmentalists are happy, spill responders are happy, the boss's are happy. We didn't try to hide anything, and did what we could to keep it from contacting the ground. It was a total bummer that it happend, and we've taken measures to prevent it from happening again. A float shut off valve failed and it was a mechanical failure not human error.
It still looks bad and I feel bad.
Yesterday we had another 95,000 dollar peice of equipment damaged. Cost us 6 hours in down time. And they woke me up at 2:30AM for another issue this morning. I just can't win. I am so burned out right now from lack of sleep, paperwork, logistics, planning etc my head is spinning.
The big boss from Canada stopped by yesterday and suggested I go to town for groceries or something...anything to get away from the rig for an hour.
But I don't dare leave. I'm positive something else will go wrong while I'm gone!

Soon you'll be gone for three weeks. What than? Go shopping, the boss knows best- you'll be a lot better off with that little break. Good luck.

Oh Rance. Sounds like things are hectic there. how come all this is happening? What's going to happen when you go back home? Will you be able to go back home already if everything is not "normal" by then?
