Yes, they are very adamant about that on the Vermont forum. However, there are two things I have to say about that. First of all, you should have a job lined up before you move ANYWHERE, just like you said. Second of all, Vermonters are a reserved bunch, and lately (well, the past couple decades) they have become very guarded about their state, and understandably so. There are a lot of people with all kinds of different ideologies who want to move to Vermont for its stunning natural beauty and other assets, and I think some of the people on the Vermont forum (no need to name names) are overly negative so as to keep people away. Sure, some of them are just being realistic, because life in Vermont is not some kind of storybook affair, it's very tough, but some of them are overly pessimistic. Still, though, jobs are VERY scarce in Vermont, and the cost of living is very high, so it's a difficult situation. This may or may not end up applying to me, depending on whether or not I fall in love with Fairbanks or elsewhere in Alaska when I come up for my summer seasonal job (most likely in the summer of 2012). But yeah, the two places that I absolutely want to live are Vermont and Alaska. And it's gonna be a helluva tough choice! Of course, I say that without having been to Alaska yet; I might get there and know right off the bat that I never want to leave! Only time will tell...

let us know if we can do anything....even just be an ear to bend for support!
as far as idjits invading....ummmm...there have always been the snooty rich areas and they are expanding that's all....no different than any other New England state....although VT will drive you out with taxes!

All those facebook reposting things...the ones that say if you know someone with cancer blah blah blah repost this to your status. The worst are the ones that say "I know that 97% of people won't have the guts or care enough to repost this blah blah more fing blah.

Speaking of facebook and fing idjits there's one on the IronDog site:

I love watching sled dogs. This race is a real test of teamwork - both man (or woman) and dog.
fing idjit thought the race involves sled dogs.

I really hate the ones that try to manipulate by quoting statistics!

As if posting some stupid viral message has any affect whatsoever on cancer...

you will know and be more understanding when things are not so raw and hurting....as a 2x in cancer remission of multiple cancers person, living on borrowed time, (some call themselves survivors)... I appreciate the re-postings but not the ending sayings added to it....when one lives on borrowed time...perspectives of what really truly is important in life changes.
I wish your mom success in treatment and more time to enjoy life.
