Saw the first coho of the season at the hatchery yesterday. Fifteen pounds or so, not too shabby.

This could be, perhaps, the last rig I get assigned to for awhile. 2nd one in the last week, 8th in the last year and a half, and by far the best. We just set a new world record. Well for this part of the planet anyway. Drilled an 8 3/4" hole from 10,090' to 14,215' in 29.5 hours. Horizontally of course. You don't see that every day. Everyone involved gets a cash bonus but me!

No, actually I'm a little deeper south than usual. I get no bonus because I'm the site supervisor and I guess the company figures I get paid enough as it is.

Rumor has it they are going to leave me on this rig for awhile. I've been bouncing around like a ping pong ball since last fall. I've actually unloaded my car and moved into one of those trailers!

I'm still trying to figure out if I'm being punished for something, or I'm considered the fixer. I've been sent to rigs with such sorry crews or performance it's unbelieveable. After a hitch or two building a decent team and upping the performance, I get scooted to another rig and start over. Trying to memorize peoples names is virtually impossible when there are 20 new faces every week. And don't even get me started on trying to remember correct numbers. It's been a SOB.
I've had 3 weeks off all summer and not all at once. I miss my wife. I miss my dog. I miss my cats. I miss Alaska. I haven't had my boat in the water yet this summer. I haven't seen my cabin since last winter.

My life has become...cumbersome.
