The rest of your litany - isn't is the same in virtually all big American cities?
In my area, many of my neighbors never lock their doors. Anchorage is like any other big city. It has it's good neighborhoods, and bad.

Forget me not...is another troll that hates AK....I rarely locked a door there...and here the same....if someone really wants to get in, they will...just like a car...I never leave anything in sight in the car..and don't lock it...less damage if they decide to rummage throught it...

I completely agree with that.

I don't lock my Alaska door but I do lock my Oregon door.

I've never locked a door until we moved to Wasilly, we do now.
I have to say, when down on the Kenai, I had a very good feeling, a safe at home feeling.
Guess it's something to work for eh.

You hit the nail on the head Nephler about Kenai. I don't lock my back door and rarely lock the front door. I know my neighbors and we all get along great. I really love that about living here and know enough to be very grateful for it. Hopefully it will stay like this for many years.

I lock my door when I'm leaving for a while.

It kind of irks me when people ask me why I don't lock my door at night. To me, that seems like I'd be afraid someone could just walk in.

Truth is, I'm not even worried about it. I live right down the road from the police station on a very public street. We've never had problems as long as I've been here.

I didn't lock the door and we were/are in the boonies so to speak...unless something weird was going on or strange traffic, I didn't think about it...

Yeah, that was our "plan A", down near Kenai. We ended up here, work reasons. Now though, it truely is something to work for, work to get the hell out of Wassly and down to some real people.
