That happened on the Casadepaga River outside of Nome in 1985. I knew we were gonna crash once the pilot didn't make that bend in river. He was trying to land on a gravel bar but he was just going to fast. Strange thing is your hanging upside down and what do you do next? The buckle, unbuckle the buckle!! Then gravity does the rest.

Keep the plane pictures coming. I sold my champ in 1980 and haven't had one since...but I sure miss it. I was only in one real wreck, It was in Tyonek, I was just a little kid, the plane was a Norseman.

I don't think I have one of my plane photos on this computer...but I'll look.

Champ is a good bird, did you know that America Champion Aircraft is building them again in the new sport aircraft catagory.

If you google your old N number under images, you may find it on the net if it is still airworthy.

Obviously not the most exciting of photos, but I'm sure many of us have probably spent more time on these two planes (N764AS & N768AS) than any other in the state - I know I have! I've got seat 16F in both planes nicely broken in to my posterior!
