Back to the Mom and Pop places. I rarely (once a year is wild for me) eat fast food...even eating out is questionable for me.

However, my kid worked for Pataya Sushi this summer, and, although he is down in Seward now, I love getting take out...or (gasp) even eating there.

They own it...they are the only cooks. They buy locally...almost on a daily basis...and cook in an open kitchen for all to see.

Although it is advertised as Sushi, there is a ton of Thai...their sweet and sour chicken is to die for.

Other than that...there's the Windbreak for lunch/dinner. I found Evangelos snooty and expensive.

But, Pataya Sushi...yum.

Closed on Sundays though :-(

Wonder when we'll be in town again?

I drove by Taco Bell last week and there were fire trucks all around it. Someone told me it had burned down. It was demolished within 24 hours, though. I expect it won't be long before it is rebuilt.

Well, last night was ladies only decadent dessert night at my place; it was fun. Someone brought a picture of Chelsea in which she looked like a model in a fashion magazine. We cried a bit and then called Grandma on POW.

LADIES ONLY decadent dessert night!

How unfair and wasteful if I do say so myself. Decadent desserts can truthfully only be enjoyed by MEN! Men who would not only eat every last crumb on their plate, grunt in enjoyment when asked if they approved, and also lick their plate (and every one else's-if they could get away with it), and sneak another thin slice of whatever it may be when "putting the rest away in the fridge". It is a moral tragedy to withhold dessert from men and I think you should write me a letter of apology and box up and send me all your leftovers!
