From what I saw from that...are they farmed salmon that escaped into wild waters?

Basically, the farmed salmon in BC and WA are capable of escaping into the wild and possibly establishing themselves in Alaskan streams and rivers and competing with wild Alaskan salmon species.

This topic has been discussed for several years, and is looming as a possible invasive species into Alaska and Alaskan pelagic and littoral waters.

It would be a financial disaster for Alaskan fishermen and the tourist industry alike. Write your Senators and our Congressman. It should be in the forefront of all of our minds. Look at what Northern Pike have done to some of the landlocked lakes to native salmon and trout. They had to poison a lake in the Mat-Su and then repopulate due to Northern Pike.

They poisoned one across the road from us fairly recently for the same reason. They thought it would soon be ready to stock...

That's crazy. They're having trouble getting the Atlantic Salmon to come up the rivers here in New England again after the dams kept them out for decades, but yet they're going to invade Alaska. Something wrong with that picture...

Artic, it's a different salmon here on the west coast.

Atlantic salmon is BC raised farmed fish.

Yeah, I know the native salmon in the West is a different salmon than here, it's just weird hearing farm raised atlantic salmon may invade Alaska when all the raising and releasing attempts here (where they're supposed to be but aren't) have mostly failed.

Allied with? Al Quaeda? The Taliban? Federation Storm Troopers?

Kill 'em all, let God sort 'em out.

Someone needs to breed a super salmon/catfish mix that can breath above & below water.
