I will be moving to Ketchikan in the beginning of september. I am a 22 y.o. male from SC and will be there doing volunteer work for a year, trying to get kids into work and back into school and getting their ged and such. Just a few questions...How are the apartments there? Hard to find? Usually all full? What about renting out rooms? Do a lot of people rent out rooms? I will be on a very small budget and will be struggling to make ends meet but I am still extremely excited. If you have any leads for living arrangements that would be great. Secondly and this may be dumb but I was looking into getting satellite tv due to the fact that I am a HUGE college football fan and that will be the only way to see the east coast and southern games. How do they fair since I know it rains constantly? Third how is the bar and nightlife scene? I wouldn't say I'm a huge partier but I def like to have fun. I would love more info on just living and the type of people there in general.
If you'd like you can respond here or shoot me an email at gopjfrazier@gmail.com

Thanks a bunch

Let's see. Your on a budget. You want cheap rent but need satellite TV. And you want to spend time in Ketchikans numerous drinking establishments.

Rent isn't cheap. And if you do find cheap you wouldn't want to live there. There is really only one apartment complex per se and that's Woodside Village.

For availability, please call Woodside Village Apartments @ 907-225-3451

For other rentals check with the local real estate agents, Sitnews and Ketchikan Daily News.

In order to save a little money you might try drinking your booze at one of the numerous drinking establishments that has Dish Network or Direct TV. Kill two birds with one stone.

There's a lot more bars and saloons but those are the only ones I have websites for.
Good luck with getting the dropouts back in school. I was lucky in that my kids knew if they didn't go to school they were gonna be in deep kimchee.

I know quite a few of the kids that dropped out when mine were still in. Some ended up going over to Revilla High School but most didn't bother.

Welcome - My name is Shannon and I work at the visitor's bureau here in Ketchikan. There are many apartments in town and MANY houses that will be for rent because a lot of them rent out in the summer to seasonal workers that will be leaving around the mid-end of sept. What I would reccommend is go onto the city's online news site Sitnews - Stories In The News - Ketchikan, Alaska - News, features, web polls. There you can find tons of information about what's going on in Ketchikan, real-estate, rentals, etc. Also - go to our website at Ketchikan Visitors Bureau > Home Hopefully some of that was helpful to you - feel free to contact me on twitter - Shannon907
