We are going on a cruise on the inside passage to Alaska starting May 5th. I am a diehard spinner and knitter and I plan to break our budget buying either Quivit yarn or fiber.
We will be in Juneau, Ketchican and Skagway. Does anyone know of any place in the above towns to purchase quivit.

TIA

Ten lashes with a vomitus skein of yarn for me for spelling Qiviut wrong. I imagine I pronounce it way wrong also.

I certainly will copy Windy Valley's list of yarn shops before we go.
Thanks for the information.

This store in Skagway carries it also, but I don't have any idea about anywhere in Ketchikan or Juneau:

you might try http://www.uaf.edu/lars/qiviut.html#Products (broken link)

Seemed to have a variety of things and good prices. This would be mail order but you should have all the prices ahead of time for such an expensive purchase. I like supporting the school that does research into the musk ox.

Default store in Anchorage

Theres a qiviut store in downtown Anchorage as well, not sure how good a deal their stuff it but it seemed pretty expensive to us at the time. That musk-ox wool may be warm, but the lacy way they knit their scarves and hats doesn't make them very warm compared to regular wool or fleece. I suspect its because the yarn is so expensive, but it you're gonna promote a product by how warm it is for the weight, it had better perform.
