Come around this time of year and I'll be putting you to work. That'll show ya. My crew is all sick today, big pole raising going on that they want to attend, idjits thicker that flies and the seiners are coming in this afternoon.

There's some good camping spots right across the street from me, on the water.

when we come...feel free to put us to work!!! What's up with the whole crew getting sick or is it just a way of trying to get to the pole raising and not working??? swift kick to them if that is the case!!!

I would have kicked those boys' butts into the next world if they hadn't wanted to attend to pole raising; I just wish they'd felt comfortable enough to say so. The youngest of my crew comes from a long line of Native carvers and has just begun to make a name for himself--sold a his first piece for more money than most people make in two months. To give you a hint as to his age, I couldn't have bought him a drink in the Moose Lodge this afternoon when the rest of us adjourned there for idjit therapy earlier today.

About the work thing, be careful what you wish for

I can let you know info on the camping as soon as you know your plans; you'll have to make reservations early.

Pole raising is what my retired neighbor at the lake missed due to the flood. He spent couple of years carving this totem pole in honor of Chief Blackhawk. And the 500 year flood we had a year ago just took it away from his shed. Gone forever. What a shame. It was going to be such an official ceremony. Natives present. Oh well.

Am I right about the pole raising in AK?
