Any one seen the history of USA thru eyes of natives as narrated by Kevin Costner? An eye opener if I might say.
This may be an angry rant, but there's some truth to it.
This is a different topic. Feel free to start a separate thread.

The series by Ken Burns acknowledges the Natives and not just in passing. At least one of the park superintendents featured is a Native American and he is quoted as saying that (my paraphrase) while the white man thought he had "discovered" these spectacular places "my ancestors" had been around here for thousands of years. And this Native American, if I correctly recall, gets the last word in the final installment.

Added: The contribution of African-Americans, especially in the early years of Yosemite, also finds mention. As I said earlier, it is a marvellous series. When you take such a large topic, you cannot please everyone. Someone's pet goat will necessarily have to be left out for want of time or some other reason.

Once again, you and Floyd took the bait. It's like shooting fish in a barrell.
Lets face it though, you got shot.

I also started thinking about which parks I've been to....Everglades, Great Smoky, Crater Lake, but can't believe I drove around N Cal and didn't go to Yosemite. Now I'm fired up to see Yellowstone, Glacier and the Utah sites. And embarrasingly I've only driven past Denali, never visited. I'm thinking spring may be best time to go? Maybe late April, or May?

Indeed, why waste ammo on someone intent on shooting his own foot?

He did not drop it.

I'm sure that you wish we would!

Why should we stop embarrassing you as long as you keep squirming with weasel words? You should apologize for making the same mistake in all those articles where you said you knew "exactly" what Notrees said, which you now tacidly admit he did not say.

This is why people enjoy poking the cages at the zoo...

snkalaska...
I spend a lot of time in Denali NP camping, hiking & backpacking. If you want to get all the way into the park, go when the shuttle buses are running. They start the later part of May; however, at first they only run as far as Tolklat rest stop. This past summer it was May 20. I suggest waiting until the shuttles run at least as far as Eielson Visitor Center (sometime around the first of June) or wait until the shuttles run the whole open road all the way to Wonder Lake (sometime after the first week of June). This year the whole road was open to shuttles to Wonder Lake June 9.

You can check on their website or reservedenali.com to get the exact dates for the particular year.

From the shuttle buses you can get on & off to hike, photograph, look for wildlife, etc. anywhere you want. Then you simply flag down another green shuttle.

You can drive in your own vehicle as far as mile 15, Savage River loop or if you have a 3 night reservation at Teklanika Campground you can drive to that campground at mile 30.

You can also put in for the lottery drive in private vehicles for September after the park closes.

Default thanks bongo

Didn't realize shuttle started that late. Seems to me that bear move around a lot in spring, plus the vegetation isn't leafed out and figured that would be a good time to spot them on the move. I've seen enough bear anyway. Got a big one in Kodiak years ago.

Moose, this juvenile posturing by you won't work. You asserted that I had written something when I hadn't, and when called out on it, you turn coy. All this verbal jousting is fine, but there has to be basic honesty in dialogue. Now be man enough and admit you were wrong.
