Well didn't think I would be back in the Arctic Ocean for the rest of the year, but got a week's worth of window between the doctor stuff...

We are pulling sensors that were put in the Arctic Ocean this last spring here and are doing temp recordings in the water at different depths.

Got here on Friday (Sept 25th) and there was a very early snow, about ten inches, with the temps in the mid 20's. The Arctic Ocean is still warm at about 36 degrees so we should have open water for a few more weeks if lucky, but ice is forming along the shoreline in spots which can be a game changer for a host of companies.

The trip took about six hours out to Point Lonely where there is an old abandon Early Warning Site that is no longer in use, but still there. A few hours to locate and pull the sensors and head back.

Saw a few pods of Humpback Whales, and they seemed to be in a hurry to get our of Dodge and go South before freezeup....

Lots of seals popping up to watch us go by, but didn't see any polar bears on this trip, but there tracks were on the beach.

Here is some photos that were taken in the last few days.

Slush forming around one of our boats after arriving

Passing Point Lonely, an old abandon early warning site about 108 miles West of Prudhoe Bay where some of the sensors were deployed

Seals were chewing on the marker buoys

Passing Northstar Drilling island, boat was bouncing in a light chop, but the photo give you an idea of how much gas is burned off instead of being sent to market. The Flare is about fifty feet high, and is at different stages depending on how much pressure is needed to be released verses being pumped back down....

The next morning with the snow fall still trickling down.

Ditto on Warp's, thanks all! But we just get to take photos of what is already there, we just get to see it in person...
