I just wanted to introduce myself after lurking about for two days. lol I'm a Yankee currently living in Texas, but will be headed to UAF for the Fall '10 semester. I hear wonderful things about Fairbanks and UAF and can't wait to get there. My major is gonna be Fishery Sciences (thinking of minoring in Wildlife Biology, too), so I think UAF is gonna be like paradise. I don't really have any newbie questions for all of you since I've been reading all the other newbie posts. xD Anyways, I just wanted to introduce myself to all of you, and can't wait to talk to you all soon.

Yank

We have no Yankees up here, it's all newbies/greenhorns/cheechakos vs sourdoughs. Although I don't know that anybody pays attention to that distinction any more! Welcome and just to get this out of the way, are you female or male? I am female but my name is deceptive.

I didn't realize the sourdoughs still existed. I thought they were extinct.

I think they pretty much steer clear of Anchorage, if you mean the bushy-bearded sourdough in the classical sense.

Hey! How come some of us didn't get that intel immediately upon arrival before we made complete fools of ourselves? Eh?
