In the past forty years I watched net draggers reduce two important fisheries to zero in Florida and Chesapeake Bay. In the Chesapeake they found they could drag for oysters at much less cost than tonging them and killed off every other species in the Bay. In Florida they drag netted shrimp and ruined vast beds of sea grass because it was less costly to destroy all other marine species so they could sell a few shrimp. Now Alaska's F & G comes in too little too late with some regulations about how fish are taken in Alaska waters. F & G has banned taking King Salmon in Kodiak on two rivers. The Federal Government has some of the blame since they don't regulate the open seas where long line fishing wastes as much live fish stock as they take for food. When will this madness cease and someone vote to save what is an almost lost resource? Maybe our nuclear submarine force should be out taking target practice on fishing boats.

She owns "Fishing Company of Alaska" based out of her home in Seattle. She doesn't many of the CG rules if she can get away with it, she allows her fish buyers in Japan to call the shots, against Coast Guard regulations.

To include placing a CG licensed skipper on her vessels as nothing but a wheel-house watchman...instead the Japanese have their Fishing Master operate the vessel, against CG Regs also

A Japanese Fishing Master doesn't know chit about operating a vessel in the Bering Sea...his only goal is to catch fish, often times placing the vessel & crew at risk of being lost

Her boats are junk and very poorly maintained....they all have a history with the Coast Guard

The Alaska Ranger is her most recent sinking with 4 lives lost...the rudder fell off, the engine went into reverse and the vessel sank immediately

The vessel had a history of rudder problems, probably never repaired correctly as she takes the boats to Japan to have them worked on...ever seen the Japanese fishing fleet.

Google "Alaska Ranger sinking"...you'll find plenty
