I could do it the other way around...spend the winters in the interior and the summers in Oregon. Now if the damned salmon would only cooperate with that...

Yes, it is called the Permanent Fund Dividend.

You must have been there for at least 1 calendar year - as in - counting from January 1st of a year until the end, before you get it. It usually ranges between $1000 - $2000 or so a year.

Well, the first line of this post was accurate.

You don't get your first PFD payment until autumn of the year following the full year you established residency. Also, it's been under $1000 per person like half or more of the years it's been distributed, including 2013 and 2012, off the top of my head.

If someone lives in NYC with no job and ability to work. You'll get food stamps for $150/month and welfare for about $1600/month now tell me why would someone want to live in Alaska?

Why would anyone want to move to Alaska just to get paid $1k/year for one person? It doesn't make much sense unless you really want to move there and not because of getting $1k.

Personally, I'd like to move there because I enjoy cold and snow much better than I like hot weather. I, seriously, have been also planning ideas to have big cities built there. Then it would be PERFECT and maybe more people would choose to live in Alaska.

If I'm not mistaken, I think you get it sometime at the end of September every year.

It peaked in 2008, at over $2200 per person, with additional money for some other reason (I forgot why) for a grand total of about $3000. But last time I checked, I'd say the average for each year is in the ballpark of around $1600 or so per person.
