Most of the highway between Haines and Anchorage is in good condition. The section between Destruction Bay and Beaver Creek is a living hell though. The frost heaves get worse every year.

I agree the Frost heaves kicked my butt this year also. And they still continued after Tok! Slowed me down without a trailer to loose time. Just arrived last night in Anchorage from WA. Took the Fort Nelson to Watson Lake this year instead of Cassier. The whole way was dry. Coldest was out of Prince George at 27 degrees but no ice. Little construction whole way.... no major hold ups - longest at Alaska boarder where they have the entire road dug up.

Left Sat and it was pretty much dry-- a little snow into Fort Nelson. I will say I did scare myself ... I was almost full tank at Ft St John so I didn't fill up becuase there are gas stations in between. Well maybe Taylor didn't look - but after that NOPE. I passed 4 stations closed and limped in to Ft Nelson on empty. The one before Buckinghorse was closed- Bucking horse was closed and the two after that was also closed. Lesson of not being cocky knowing what I am doing. Big town fill up no matter what.

Canada gas prices averaged $1.01/liter to $1.29 in Ft Nelson but most was $1.12/liter. Had to laugh at that station right on the Alaska boarder. They wanted $3.90 per gallon. Pass on that to Tok.

Lots of critters on the road. Way more than my Summer and early fall trips last year. In one day alone I saw over 10 bears on side of the road. Tons of moose, caribu, goats, sheep, etc. The weirdest was seeing a black bear grazing with the bison..
