I'm going to be attending Sage for graduate work in the fall. I'm looking for a place to live - either in Troy or Albany, preferably accessible to either campus since 1) I won't have a car, at least not for a bit and 2) I'm going to be on both campuses for classes. I'm alright with taking a cab if needed though, since I won't be on campus every single day. I'm getting pretty desperate in terms of apartment hunting since it's already halfway through the summer and I need to figure things out soon.

My main concern is safety. Especially because right now I'll probably be living alone. I'm not sure where would be the best places to live in Albany/Troy.

Private landlords are alright, as long as its in a decent area. Rental companies are fine too, except I don't know of any. Apartment complexes like those listed on Renters Guide - Albany Apartments in New York and Albany, NY Apartment Complexes are great too, except again - I don't know which ones are in the safer areas.

I'm open to the idea/possibility of not living in either Albany or Troy if there are surrounding areas that are ideal to live in. I realize there's buses and all that, plus like I said, I won't even be on campus all that often. I'm familiar with the area in the sense of location and what not, so I'm okay with looking into places like Schenectady, Cohoes, Clifton Park, Niskayuna, etc.

I should also add - since I won't beon campus that much, I don't mind a bit of a bus commute.

Preferably, my max limit is about $650/month, MAYBE a little more.....again, I'm open to any ideas, any help would be really, really appreciated.

Thank you in advance!!!
