I've been talking to the Master Broker for Whole Foods about moving to the capital district. He wants to know of a property with the following criteria:

25,000-50,000 Square Feet
Large number of college-educated residents
Abundant parking available for our exclusive use
Stand alone preferred, would consider complementary
Easy access from roadways, lighted intersection
Excellent visibility, directly off of the street
Must be located in a high traffic area (foot and/or vehicle)

I suggested the old Barnes/Noble location across from Colonie Center and he indicated that they already looked into that location and the owners are not able to move the building for more visibility. I think the Men's Wearhouse is in the way and there is not enough parking.

The locations that they are looking for are Colonie, Latham, Clifton Park. I'm not an expert in real estate and I live in Saratoga Springs, so I am not sure what land is available.

What about Wegmans and Price Chopper lightening up on there agreement about not crossing into each other's territory. You will notice that there aren't any Wegmans in the Albany area and that there aren't any Price Choppers west of the Syracuse area, which has both btw.

Wegmans

Huge property for sale by Roohan across from Saratoga Recycling Station in Wilton, near skating rink. I wish a Costco would move in there. People from VT come that way to shop in Saratoga.

The old bowling place in Latham (near River Rd and Rt 7) meets most of the criteria, except the criteria of distance from 87/90 and high traffic. But Rt 7 does get quite a bit of traffic and that part has been seeing a lot of action.

But come to think of it, it is not that far from 87, whether one uses Rt 7 or Alb-Shaker Rd.

Actually , with the recent opening of a similar store in Latham and several options in Alb. You would do well to look into Saratoga, Exit 50 outlet mall both sides of street have great locations, people dying up there for it. Plenty of people with money , students etc.
