Leaving Long Island for Albany area. (Schenectady, Guilderland: school district, commute, towns)

I have a chance to leave Long Island through my job.They have a spot in Schenectady,Albany area.
My wife has family in Greenville and we like that area, but it may be to far to commute everyday.
What are some nice towns with good schools about 1/2 to 40mins. out of the city?.
We've been to Greenville many times but never checked out the Schenectady area.

Check out the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake School District. Maybe Shenendehowa, Ballston Spa, Niskayuna and Guilderland, among others.

If you want something close to Greenville and Schenectady, Bethlehem and Voorheesville would be good options.
