Off the top of my head, two nice rides are Rt. 100 in VT and Rt. 64 through Shushan. Quite a few nice backroad rides in the Adirondacks ( through Ticonderoga, Newcombe). Also in Saratoga, nice rides through horse farm areas.

Default Schoharie County!

New Scotland is a short, scenic ride away from Schoharie County. You'll likely find some transplants from your home area there, too.
Vroman's Nose would be a good destination, with a lot of pretty, pretty country in between.
On your way, you'll pass the revolutionary-era Stone Fort and the nearby covered bridge in Schoharie, and the companion fort in Middleburgh. Not a lot going on at either place, just pretty places to walk around in, and look at if you're so moved.
Schoharie County's claim to fame is farming, and there's this web page all about local farms, with a tab labeled "Events" that you might want to check to get some local flavor.

Schoharie county has a little thing called Fueling the Fun, too. FREE GAS!
