Hi my name is Joe me and my wife to be and her mom are thinking about moving upstate. right now i live on longisland where rent is so much and at this point im back home with my mom. my motherinlaw she is 42 and lives in a nursing home do to a stroke she had a few years back. Im 26 and my girl is 23 and we have no kids.My girl has her dad and some of her family around the troy area. she lived there for a few months a few years back and said to be honest she would rather stay away from troy but live near there so she could be with her family.I guess her reason would b do to some bad areas. Where gona go vist troy sometime in march, we looked on craigslist and seen 3 bedroom apartments go for 900 or so and a house for 1200 ish a month. so pretty much if anyone can think of any areas around troy where we can rent please let us know and if anyone knows how much a house would b to rent? we have i would say up to 2,400 a month in income. thank you

Google "Renters Guide Albany" or "Mapskrieg Albany NY" for possibilities. I believe that Troy has some nice areas too.

Are you looking for something in a city or suburb?

If you are looking for suburbs, check Latham, Colonie. If you are looking for more downtown feel look into Albany, Center Square Area. If you are the typical 20-something, you'd like Lark St. in Albany. Bars, restaurants, shops, etc.

When I was in my 20's I liked living in a walkable city, so my vote would be for city life while you are young w/no kids.

Enjoy your visit.
