Hello All,

I am currently in the process of accepting a job in Niskayuna and have been looking at apartments for rent.

Searching for a bit, I found out that the Hampshire Apartments in Schenectady (only a 5 min drive from my work) got great reviews. However, after spending numerous hours on this website, I have come to realize that Schenectady might not be the best place to live (drugs, gangs, etc.) in.

I was hoping if you all could guide me to look in specific areas. It would be great to move in an area where there are events always happening, but also (as mentioned above) safe enough that if I get a dog, that I can take her out for walks at night. I am single if that helps, and I do enjoy outdoor activities quite a bit.

Thanks in advance!

It depends on where you are in Schenectady too. Cities aren't monolithic in terms of neighborhoods and Schenectady is no different. In fact, it looks like those apartments are barely in the city of Schenectady and aren't too far from Niskayuna High School. So, you should be fine.

This may help in terms of other suggestions: http://www.tricityrentals.com/Albany...RegionMap.aspx

ckhthankgod that website is amazing! Are there any particular areas I should "avoid"? The Capitol Green Apartments look very nice and cheap. Also, I see a lot of apartments include heat and hot water included. I assume this will come in handy quite a bit during the winter season...
