My family is going to be relocating to Upstate NY around Greene County in less then 2 months due to job relocation. I have been to visit Greene County and surrounding areas and find that it is a beautiful place and I am quite excited to move there. I have been looking through this site and have found good information and bad information about almost every town in this area. I do not want to base my decission where to move from negative people. I understand that these are small towns, with people that have lived their wholes life there. I respect there are going to be things I am not use to, however we are very friendly, non-judgemental people, th and are only looking to find a place to call home. This move is exciting for our 3 children, however it is still going to be difficult for them to relocate away from everyone they know and start over. It is very important to me that the area we pick would be best for them. They will be starting the following grades in September 9th, 6th & 4th.

Can anyone please suggest the best family friendly places with good schools in this area - this is the most important issue for me is to make sure my children thrive in their new location.

I would prefer information to come from people who live in these areas.

Thank you for any help you can offer.

I'm from Saratoga, so can't help you specifically, but this site is a pretty good indicator for schools:

www.greatschools.org

Good luck, I'm sure, especially with children, you will get involved within the community and meet new friends.

Where in Greene County? It's a decent size county. Do you want to be close to work? Do you mind a 45 minute commute? You'll find people everywhere who will say a place sucks. The joys of the internet! Do you want to be in a city? A rural area? What else do you need/want besides good schools? Everyone wants good schools. I have never seen someone post on here that they are looking for crappy schools. I'd really wonder about them if they did!
