I'm moving from NYC in July and have passed through Albany a few times, but know nothing about the neighborhoods. My work location is near East Greenbush/Renssalear. I like to bike/walk to places whenever I can, but realize that is a very NYC lifestyle and can't always be found everywhere else, and I will have a car in Albany.
I'm looking for a place in a safe neighborhood that isn't going to charge over $800 for a 1BR with utilities. Can anyone recommend any safe, young neighborhoods (by young I don't mean bars lined up the street or next to frat houses but mid 20s folk) that would be ideal for my situation? Oh and would not cause any parking headaches?
Are most apartments listed on craigslist or are there other places to find listings?
