Agree with this. I have a friend who worked in the District for many years. She says it is an interesting mix of rural folks, hippie types, professors' kids, and working class people. I think a large part of its relatively poor scores is that it is not as wealthy as the neighboring towns. Keep in mind that the district is much smaller than places like Bethlehem or Guilderland. This has its pros and cons. Guidance can spend a lot more time with kids (especially important in the high school years), kids and families are close knit, teachers are more likely to get to know the whole kid and not just the scores. But there aren't the variety of course offerings and if your child is a little off-the-wall it can be harder to find a group of friends just because there are fewer people to pick from.
