The Schuylerville School District has a good reputation. You might check out:

Also besides searching real estate for Saratoga Springs, check the surrounding area, like Wilton, Northunderland, Moreau, Schuylerville, etc. Driving to shopping for us is about 9 miles. To go to Clifton Park shopping it is 20 miles, BUT you don't have the traffic congestion you may have had in northern VA. Best of luck in your search.
The Albany area -- or anywhere in Upstate -- on its worst traffic days isn't going to rival the congestion in NO VA on its normal traffic days.

Saratoga, the Eastern Adirondack Mtns, and the Lake George area are where wealthy families from NYC use to vacation years ago. Lots of history and beautiful landscapes with plentiful opportunity for recreation. Also centrally located for weekends in the major cities of both French Canada and the NE US for cultural diversity. Being near NY's capital district you'll find lots of restaurants and Albany's 'Egg' for indoor cultural events as well as Saratoga's outdoor amphitheater.

Hi. I know this is an old thread, but there are some negatives of Lewisburg. Despite the university, there is significant racism in the area. During the brief time I was there, some African-American students walking around were harassed by two men driving by shouting racial slurs with a big Confederate flag hanging off their bumper. The Bucknell chaplain at the time was African American and experienced harassment while grocery shopping. I was part of an interracial couple and we got a ton of nasty looks when out shopping in Williamsport. It was like the DC suburbs must have been in the 1950s. The population is extremely homogeneous, sadly including the university students and faculty. Might be worth staying a few years but it's not somewhere I'd want to settle as a minority.
