We're considering relocating from MD to Cohoes. My husband is looking at a job there, and I am an RN. I am very intrigued at the prospect of being a part in a small town revitalization. We love to support local economy, artists, agriculture, and have a long history in participating in various poverty/justice initiatives.
Is anyone familiar with the happenings in Cohoes? Not so much any 'real estate development' but grass roots development?
I would love to begin a conversation about it, if anyone lives there and has something to share!
Another small city you may be interested in is Watervliet. I believe that only the village of Kenmore has more population density out of Upstate NY communities than Watervliet. Watervliet, New York - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It has great loft apartments in the old mills, although not particularly new. Then there's this place I just discovered - the Foundry for Art Design and Culture. And a brewery and brew pub may be opening there soon. (It was originally planned for Ten Broeck in Albany, but was voted down. Grrr.)
