We live approx. 10-12 miles outside Saratoga Springs, Town of Saratoga. Schuylerville School District, which has a good reputation. Hospital is in Saratoga and several medical facilities in Wilton (10 mi). You also might check out Northunderland; several nice developments (Brampton Woods). Quite a few houses for sale in area where I live, which is rural, within your price range. Check real estate for Schuylerville, Saratoga, Quaker Springs).

I was raised in Warrensburg and went to K-12 there. The town has a new health center and is about 30 min to Saratoga and an hour from Albany airport. The school is always ranked very high on NYS lists!

Glens Falls, which is in between Warrensburg and Saratoga could be what you're looking for. The schools are good and they have a good hospital. Glens Falls also has a nice, walkable downtown.

Glens Falls also has the worst drivers in any small city I've ever seen in my entire life. They're not bad as in dangerous, they're bad as in most drive at least 10 mph UNDER the speed limit, and it takes them a good 5 seconds to realize the light actually turned green. It's completely impossible to get from one end of the city to the other in a timely manner during the day. One of the tallest buildings in Glens Falls is a retirement home, so that should tell you something about the city.

Also, there's a paper mill near the downtown, so when the wind blows in a certain direction, you can smell this nasty sulfur smell all over the city. It's probably okay to inhale, but it can get noxious at times.

I've talked to a lot of people about Glens Falls and I'm apparently a minority by having negative views on the city, but I just...don't...care for it one bit. Everyone says it's nice, scenic, laid back and very revitalized, but I still see problems with that city.

Those certainly sound like personal problems. I certainly dislike Saratoga a lot more than most people.
