Dear Friends,

I would love to relocate upstate from downstate and could really use some knowledge about the special ed programs in the Greater Albany area. Do the districts send the kids with autism to BOCES? Do the districts have their own programs? I have 2 high functioning boys with autism and my middle guy is so adorable and sociable, but he's quiet and just really starting to have more words.

We would love to be in a nice caring district and also live where the boys can be part of the YMCA and do some adapted sports. Miracle Leagues etc....

Any info on the subject would be so very helpful! Thanks!

Are you just looking in the Capital District or in Upstate in general?

Default Areas of interest

Hi! I was looking at a pretty broad area since I don't know which individual districts would work out. I work from home and don't need to be in a certain place although I am not really a country gal. I like to be close to YMCA's and lake(s). Just need the Y and a hospital near by (not more than 20 minutes away). Thanks for helping me to sort this out! So I was looking as south as East Greenbush and as north as Lake George. Thanks again!

I know Guilderland has an excellent program for autistic children. I have a friend who sends her 2 children there even though they live in the highly coveted Bethlehem school district.
