We are moving to the area for two years. Rental properties (homes) are pretty pricey. how stable the housing market now and is it worthwhile to buy instead?
This is a tricky question to ask, since I'm not sure what your end goal is. Do you want to make money selling after 2 years? Not likely anywhere! Would you rent it after you move ? Or are you asking if you'll take a loss in that 2 year timeframe?- that would depend if you got a good deal on the purchase price.
Personally I wouldn't buy a home if I didn't intend to stay at least 5 years. If you plan on renting it.. Albany has a decent rental market demand because of the Colleges and Medical Residents.
