Job Opportunity in Woodstock/Saugerties. Where to live with reasonable commute and good schools? (Kingston: apartments)

Currently living on Long Island with a job opportunity in Woodstock/Saugerties. Those areas are far to rural for me, so looking for an area with a reasonable commute with good schools. Have one son still in HS. Other kids are away at SUNY schools. Will most likely rent. Looking for upscale rental properties/apartments, 2-3 bedrooms.

Red Hook (across the river) has the best schools. It's about a 40 minute commute. Rhinebeck schools are also good. Unfortunately the schools in Kingston, Woodstock and Saugerties aren't nearly as good.
