As all of the posts for moving to Albany are very old, I'd like some insight on the area as of recent. I am moving to Albany this summer, and won't have a chance to visit beforehand. I'd like to be in Albany, and not a bordering town. I'm a 26 y/o female and will be living alone. What are the safest areas in Albany, preferably close to St. Peters? I'm looking to keep my rent below $1,000. I'm not into night life, and will have a car, so public transportation matters very little.
I'm specifically drawn to an apartment on S Main and Myrtle. Is this a safe area?
Thank you.

What about looking in the southern end of the Delaware Avenue neighborhood? With that said, South Main is in a nice area of Albany and should be fine. Hopefully, some other posters chime in.

Madison ave has some pretty good priced apartments for that budget. I actually looked at these myself http://madisononthepark.com/ and the landlord is really a nice guy. They're affordable and not small like many apartments in Albany are. They're also on the bus line and across from the best park in Albany .
