I've been searching for a good Chinese buffet in the Albany/Troy/Schenectady area for over a year.
The only ones I can find are shopping plaza style locations. They have about 4 tables inside, and
it's like eating inside an oven.
I'm trying to find a replacement for the "Dragon Buffet" on Central Ave, Albany, NY. It was very good for a while. But has gone down hill for a while.
At first it was only when the food was on the "warm" side, you may have some stomach issues later. But it progressed to happen with "warm or hot" foods. Montezuma's Revenge for everyone.
Does anyone know of some good ones?

I've tried Golden Corral before, and I'm not impressed. The selections were poor, and service bad.
As for Cici's, pizza/pasta is too heavy to eat buffet style.
If you are in the area and want solid American Chinese food (not a buffet) check out Peking in Johnstown. It's a bit of a drive but it's the best Chinese food in the area by far.
I like the United Buffet over in Schenectady off 890. The address is 2320 Watt St, Schenectady, NY 12304. It use to be some American style buffet but I forget the name.
There's also one off of Wolf Rd. in Albany. It's in that plaza where the guitar store is. It may not be there, I haven't been there in years.
Coming from Connecticut....my foray into Albany dining has been a challenge to say the least, bu there are some above-the-fray Chinese places around if you have a filter on. These are Non-Marty McGillicuddy non-gringo Chinese.
Chinese Buffets in the area are mostly mediocre except for 2 places:
Super Buffet-East Greenbush (Route 20). Real sushi and not just maki rolls. Good panko fried fish.
Capital Buffet-Colonie (Wolf Road). Good and even non-gringo offerings. Maki rolls are excellent (raw fish).
Most of Albany and the area is a culinary disaster...but there are some gems if you look carefully.
Jim is right. Plum Blossom in Troy is amazing. Don't know how I forgot to add that.
