Apartment Hunting - Please Help! (Looking in Clifton Park) (Albany: apartments, renters)

I need to commute to both Albany/Colonie (exit 4 off 1-87) and Glenville daily/weekly so I'm looking for a good middle ground, which I figured would be Clifton Park-ish. I'm looking for a one bedroom for...well...as cheap as I can get a decent one. Problem is, I have several friends/acquaintances who say to stay far, far away from the Solomon properties, which is most of the ones in the area. Any ideas? Private rentals?
