^^^ Sounds like wheat all the old people who have never stepped foot outside of the Capital Region say amongst themselves in regards to gangs/crime lol.

I will never understand the overwhelming, sometimes irrational fear of any level of crime in this area.

Good question and I believe that it is due to the hamlet not being a Census Designated Place(or CDP) anymore. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Latham,_New_York
