In Schenectady, Union College offers has this housing program for employees of the college: https://www.union.edu/offices/human-...other/#housing

What is interesting is that the neighborhood covered under the program is also within walking distance of the Price Chopper corporate headquarters. So, there are a couple of employment options within walking distance for people, couples, etc. that may be interested.

Also not too far away from the covered neighborhood: https://riverscasinoandresort.com

Does this cover the Van Vranken neighborhood? If the city and the neighborhood's homeowners would clean that up, it'd be a great area in between the Stockade/Union College and Ellis Hospital/Schenectady High. I've said for a while that neighborhood is a diamond in the rough.

It says that it covers the College Park area just west of campus. So, it looks like it just misses that area, but is close. I'm surprised that it doesn't include this area SE of campus as well: http://uniontriangle.org/

You make a good point, as some of these neighborhoods are just a little bit of interest by the right people away from being pretty solid/nice again. With people wanting to live in cities again and if they can get the right employment, you never know.

It is also a part of why I mentioned similar programs for the other areas, as some people may not be aware of benefits like this at some of these colleges.

Sometimes hospitals have similar programs for employees and perhaps, if they don't already, it could be something Ellis Hospital could consider as well. An example of this: https://www.sjhsyr.org/news/?id=145&sid=1&nid=162
