When you say closed-mindedness, what are you referring to?

CKh, nothing personal, but I cannot provide an answer you would find worthy or acceptable, so I will just keep quiet.
I know I'm too negative so I will refrain from posting here in the future. I hope to deactivate my account soon (if possible.)

^You can post how you want to. I honestly was curious as to what you were referring to.

Nope, I'm done. If I say anything more it will only cause problems.

Climate, high taxes and I know several people who moved because of the state legislature and governor and the constant resolutions and bills that go against what the people upstate want.

I moved to Albany from Buffalo in 1987 for a state job. I moved back to WNY in 1998 because I got a job opportunity in Jamestown, which is only 35 miles from my home town of Gowanda. I moved to Buffalo and then Lincoln, NE for college, and I worked in Buffalo after college because that's where I found a teaching job.

I found the Albany area to be a much more socially progressive area than WNY, and especially the City of Buffalo. For all the posters complaining about Albany's "close mindedness", I suggest they are comparing it to the big East Coast metros, rather than the cities of similar size away from the coast. I think Albany is still more progressive than Buffalo, although the gap has closed, but that's mostly because the Buffalo area has improved not that Albany's regressed.

I'm a small town person at heart, so I prefer living in smaller places. It's why Jamestown suits me so well. I wasn't really happy living in Buffalo, but I liked Ravena (south of Albany) as well as in Colonie. Troy, where I lived for a couple of years, I didn't like probably it was reminded me the most of Buffalo. If Albany had been about 250 miles closer to home, I probably would have stayed in the Albany area, although I probably would have moved to Rensselaer or Greene Counties or west to Delanson or Esperance.
