"The 2019-20 school year was unprecedented in many ways.
In March 2020, schools closed due to Covid-19. At first, the hope was that it would be in the short term; eventually, in-person classes were canceled for the full school year. Along with classroom instruction, Common Core tests and Regents exams were also canceled.
Those test scores typically make up the bulk of the district rankings in the Schools Report, so for this year's rankings, we compiled district scores over the past five years — tallying English, math, science, social studies and graduation rates over that time. (Here's more about the methodology.)
Not surprisingly, Bethlehem Central School District came out No. 1 — it has been atop these rankings each of the past four years. Voorheesville and Niskayuna were second and third respectively, and separated by just thousandths of a point.
Niskayuna is the only district other than Bethlehem to top the rankings in the past five years."
