I am relocating to work with KAPL. I am interested in living in an area convenient to shopping and restaurants with a young and active lifestyle atmosphere. Could you give me some suggestions of good locations for renting an apartment or townhouse. Thank you for the help!

What is your budget? Which KAPL facility would you be working at?

Downtown Schenectady comes to mind right away: https://www.apartmentfinder.com/New-...3tpsy4H9rqs5tB

Saratoga Springs may be another viable option: https://www.apartmentfinder.com/New-...ngs-Apartments

A sleeper area that offers walkability, while still being close to Downtown Schenectady is Scotia: https://www.apartmentfinder.com/New-...tia-Apartments

I mention these areas due to proximity to the KAPL facilities in West Milton and Niskayuna, a suburb of Schenectady.

Upper Union Street in Schenectady may be another area to look into due to its proximity to Niskayuna, walkability and some shopping/restaurants: Upper Union Street BID | Schenectady, NY | Capital Region Businesses

Albany is still a reasonable drive to Niskayuna and neighborhoods such as Center Square and Pine Hills would have things that you are looking for. https://www.apartmentfinder.com/New-...any-Apartments
Lark Street is a main street that goes through the Center Square neighborhood: https://larkstreetbid.org/directory/
