Can one exist in Saugerties or Saugerties Village without having a car? Is there cab or car service to Hudson for the occassional times when one might want to rent a car or take the train? Or even go to the supermarket. Does the village have a convenience store and/or deli, in addition to restaurants?

You might want to look at this: Ulster County Area Transit

I think you might be able to go to Kingston by bus and there might be other ways to get to other cities and towns in the Hudson Valley.

Thanks! I think I'm probably going to have to have a car, just wishful thinking not to have to!

Yeah. Get a car. Public transport is nice, but when its 10 degrees with a wind-chill,
it's not much fun waiting for buses. Cabs aren't that common outside of Albany.
