Hi everyone,

I'm moving to the warren county/glens falls area and was curious if anyone knew the average cost for a 1 bedroom apartment for gas for heat and or cooking. As well as the average cost of electricity per month. Thanks!

It kind of depends on if it is heated with Electricity or Gas. If you have a specific apartment in mind you could call National Grid and they will tell you what the last tenant paid.

That's a great idea Most of the places I'm looking at have gas for the heating. But I am concerned at the cost of electric for cooking.

I think if you have gas for heating you should be ok, that is the big expense up here in the Northern area. Good luck to yah!

It obviously depends on the apartment, but over the past year my bills have ranged from a low of $52 in the summer to a high of $163 in the winter. The average has been about $106.

Note that I only use gas for heat, but National Grid charges about $15/month for the gas connection regardless of use. Thus, in the summer, I pay for gas without using any. You will actually be better off using gas for cooking because you get a certain amount of supply for free with your fixed delivery costs, so you will not be paying for supply that you never use.

I like the idea of getting some for free with delivery fixed costs. I wasn't sure if electric would be cheaper for cooking but now I think I'll stick with gas. Thanks
