My BF and I are moving to Albany in a few months, as I've posted. Moneys' tight, and we don't drive. Are there companies that do job interviews over the phone? Or should we just set a few bucks aside and go up there for a few days? Get our names out there, apply to jobs. Maybe get interviews then, or set something up for the week we move-in...

Richs' job couldn't transfer, he works where we live. He just finished up training to get a computer job, it taught a little bit of everything. I'd be looking for something PT, to start.

I would really appreciate any and all advice, as this is such a huge move! 8-)

The mail and internet could save you some time. Try the phone first and then if they want to interview you in person, they'll tell you. Good Luck.

Where do you live now? How far of a commute are we talking about to go on an interview before you move?

Definitely find jobs here before you move! Not many places do only phone interviews. And a lot of places won't even do an interview if you don't have a local phone number. Think about getting a Trac phone with a 518 area code number. That phone is dirt cheap. I've heard of a lot of people doing that so it looks like they are local. It has helped a few people.

What kind of work are you both looking for? The computer/technology field is huge. If you let us know what you're looking for for work, we may be able to help with some pointers.

Oh that is a great idea about the phone; I'll have to remember that.
