Hi all, I am looking to relocate home to northern Warren County (originally from Indian Lake, NY but have not lived there in over a decade). I want to move back to be closer to family as most of my siblings are still in the Indian Lake/North creek/ Johnsburg area. I am concerned about gettign appropriate services for my son though, as havign grown up up there, I know there is very little in the way of special needs service in Indian Lake. My sons are both adopted. One has autism and severe anxiety, and the other has cerbral palsy and some additional medical concerns. I am looking ot move probably south of my family into the Johnsburg /Warrensburg /Queensbury areas.

I would love to hear from paretns who have a child with autism especially regarding the services in the area. I have looked into The Prospect School in Queensbury which would be a great fir for my younger son (age 3) with CP until he is ready to join a regular classroom. But my biggest concern is for my older son (age 6) who has high functioning Autism, as it is a much more complex and in many ways more invisible disability but has in most ways a much more profound effect on his life than my other son's cp will on his.

If you have a child with special needs in the Johnsburg/ Warrensburg/ Queensbury area I would love to hear about your expereinces both good an bad. Also my one son is Hispanic and my other son is black or mixed race (not 100% sure), and I was wondering what the climate for racial issues is like up there.

I would think the city of Glens Falls would be fine in terms of racial climate. Maybe the schools there have programs for your children. Glens Falls City School District

and here's info. on the Queensbury schools: Welcome to the Queensbury UFSD
