if you had a good job and could cover the cost of a commute with no hardship would you live in a town like fort plain the town might ave only a save alot and a family dollar and 2 gas stations but dose not have a street gang scene. or a mjor drug problem ie. pushers on the cornor . but is a safe place to raise your kids apart from the rep ft plain has for the # of unwed mothers (like that makes a place bad) would you live there i do and love the place for even the artments that a nice and upto date have a low and fare rent
My family isn't so pleased with the way the people hanging about look these days, but I doubt it is much different than when I was little. I'll admit, I don't feel much love for roving teens. (And yes, a lot of them are pushing strollers.)
The thing is, the whole place is filled with nice old buildings which I always hoped would be more appreciated. I am not letting myself be too hopeful, but in the last year or so I think I might have seen a lot of improvements. Some places were painted nicely and a little pub or something opened.
The town has good bones. It does have an unfortunate lack of stores. (I mean clothing and such.) The Palantine grocery is good though. There are some nice little shops I guess, jewellery, pharmacy, co-op, and a few antiques places I love. I complain about the lack of resturants too, but Charter House is really good, and if you don't mind a drive there are more out there.
I would love to see more people move there whom care to make it nicer!
My family jokes that all it needs is a college. College towns always do better :P
