My wife & I are looking for a good suburban community in the area/vicinity of Albany, NY with access to good area health care + a good retirement community ( condomiums, townhouses, gated community, planned retirement community, etc. ) in as much as my wife & I have health issues which do not allow me to function as a handyman around the house + my wife's severely disabled adult son also lives with us.

Does anyone know of any good suburban communities or towns in the vicinity of Albany that would suit our needs as far as good retirement housing & health care needs are concerned ?

Does anyone know of any good realtors that specialize in retirement condo style housing in suburban communities near Albany ?

Does anyone know of any good gated retirement communities or good retirement developments/developers in the suburbs of Albany ?

You might like something like Saratoga Springs or Glens Falls. Both are about an hour North of Albany, but have their own hospitals and are more laid back.

Default Might try Clifton Park or Halfmoon Beach

Both of these are great little communities and most affordable. Halfmoon Beach is right near the Mohawk River which has some interesting history, a marina and parks and it's only about 15 minutes from downtown Albany. Clifton Park Village itself is a bit further north but also convenient with lots of stores, a mall, great restaurants etc. Check them out, you might be pleasantly surprised. Good Luck

Default Good Physicians lacking in area

We haven't been successful in find physicians of the caliber we had in the metro area, even after traveling to Albany from Saratoga. After two years and several appointments with various doctors we have found a urologist, eye doctor and orthopedic surgeon. Sadly in speaking to people in the community including nurses and medical admins, they agree with should make the trip to see doctors in the metro area as they can't find decent physicians themselves. Twice we made appointments with doctors (endocrinology and orthopedic) waited two months for appointment and they called and cancelled the appointment a week before.

Is this the type of thing you are looking for?
Coburg
It's in Clifton Park, sort of in between Albany & Saratoga.
Here's a place in Troy: Troy New York Independent Senior Living - Diamond Ridge | Holiday Retirement
Something in Guilderland: Atria Guilderland in Slingerlands, NY 12159 - Retirement Communities

A relative of mine lives over at Shaker Pointe which is a VERY nice place to be if you're retired or over 55 in general. The facilities are awesome and not all that old. I believe their site says they're either in the process of or just finished their newest set of condos. This is their site if you're interested: Albany, NY Active Senior Living | Shaker Pointe

It's not right in Albany but it's close by further north over in Watervliet. I think this fits your criteria almost perfectly.
