My fiance works for Fed Ex and he is getting relocated as a manager for the Menands station from Long Island.

We lived in the suburbs in Suffolk County, NY and we would like to be living in the suburbs again. We have a budget of up to $1200 for an apartment/condo/townhouse for rent without utilities included. We don't know the area at all, other than what I have been able to find online.

We are looking for a nice, safe area because I will be by myself for a good amount of the time. Looking for, hopefully, a managed complex. We're young, no kids but a little more laid back than into the bar/club scene.

What are the best areas without a horrible commute for him to get to work?

Thank you in advance for any helpful information!

Maybe something in the Latham/Loudonville area in the northern part of the town of Colonie would be good. Cohoes is a small city that seems to be making an effort in reviving it's Downtown area too. Maybe something in a nice part of Watervliet, the South side of Troy or Rensselaer might work. Menands itself might have something too. Here are some sites that might help: Albany Apartments for Rent | Albany Apartment Finder

Very nice and both are in the same school district(Bethlehem SD). It's on the other side of Albany and I believe that Delmar is a nice walkable community. Here's an idea of what Delmar looks like: delmar, ny - Google Maps
