Has anyone else noticed a large increase in the amount of traffic heading North over Rexford Bridge in the evening? In the past (before two weeks ago or so), the traffic would be bad from around 4-6pm, but would usually taper off quickly after 6pm. Recently, the traffic is still backed up to River Rd at 6pm. Today I went toward the bridge at 7pm and still had a 15-20min delay.
Does anyone know the cause? It is certainly not a seasonal increase or similar. Maybe construction elsewhere is detouring traffic or a large facility changed their working hours?
I'm not sure, but maybe it is construction or maybe there was an accident? There is construction on Lenox Ave & around the Van Vranken Ave area, but I'm not sure if it would divert people going north all the way over to Balltown. Was there traffic still coming from Aqueduct (the road on the left right before you go over the bridge)?

Yep, still traffic from Aqueduct, although it does not seem to be backed up like Balltown. I was actually thinking it may save time to cross Balltown Rd on River Rd and work my way down to Aqueduct to get to the bridge. It's been consistently backed up, so I don't think it was an accident.
I noticed Nott St has been closed, that might have something to do w/it too. Depending on where you work, there might be a quicker way. Like if you work in downtown Sch'dy you could go up Nott to Van Vranken, all the way down Van Vranken, til it ends at Aqueduct, slight right on to Aqueduct, then you'll find yourself right at the bridge.
There's this on the NYSDOT website. Maybe the project got moved up to take advantage of federal money.
I'd suggest contacting DOT to get info right from the source.
