My daughter's car might need new brakes. Can anyone suggest a reliable (honest) mechanic?
She's in the Schenectady area
Thanks!

An independent car dealer I know says he sometimes uses Spenard's on Central Avenue (Route 5). He says that every time he recommends some mechanic, though, it comes back to bite him...and "when it comes out good, they're good."
The location's handy to Schenectady, anyway...

If it's a Honda by any chance, I really like Mohawk Honda. They have free shuttle service if you need to leave the car, which I really liked. The driver even helped me w/my kids & their carseats that I had to install and uninstall into the shuttle.

But for any type of car I've used the Tire Warehouse on Union St. It's on the corner of Regent, near a vet's, & Homestyle. My dad has used them for years and have gone there quite a bit myself too. They are very friendly and never push me to get work done. I was really appreciative when they checked and filled my tires for free and I didn't even have to take my kids out of the car, they just came right out to the parking lot for me - it doesn't seem like a big deal, but was to me, when you are talking infant, toddler, big kids all to get in and out of the car. Nice guys. Oh I also like the location because if they need to keep the car for a bit, Upper Union is a nice area to walk around in. Go get some lunch or check out a few shops. With an hour or more you could walk to Central Park.

Default Auto mechanic needed

Hi! I lived in Schenectady for 7 years and relied on Anker Automotive. I first found them via the Cartalk website. My husband and I always found them to be honest and reliable--they don't try to sell you services you don't need and they do good work.

Default J&D Automotive in Cohoes

J & D Automotive‎ 191 Main Street, Cohoes, NY‎ - (518) 233-1945‎
I used them a lot when I worked on Green Island 1999-2004. Was referred to them by long time local families. I was always very happy with their work and they try hard to keep your costs down. They treat you like family, every time you go there.

Thanks all (sorry for not checking back to see the responses).
The college suggested Ankers and we're happy with the job they did.
