We have a lot of black widow spiders around the flowers, have had several scorpions, millipedes and centipedes, the 7 banded hissing beetle and worst of the Child of the Earth which is by far the ugliest bug I have ever seen. But spraying seems to keep them under control.

I've lived in MD, PA, FL and the ABQ area has less bugs than those areas...

Monsoon now, raining, and we have had flies the last few days...

It's a desert, not that much wildlife like VA...

you probably won't have to worry about this at home, but abq also gets clouds of gnats along the rio grande. i cycle through them when i ride the bosque trail. by the time i get home, i have hundreds of their little corpses all over my arms and legs. at least they're not mosquitos.

I have encountered them, but I'm walking, so it's not as bad... There have been a few times that along the Bosque there are plenty of Horseflies.

My wife & I recently got back into cycling (we do 15 miles or so a day). Here we basically ride in the neighborhood streets. It's great to know that their are bicycle trails there!!

There are a lot of trails for biking and hiking in a lot of locations...

Excellent!
The abundance of bike trails is perfect.
We also have plans of picking up a sand rail & a pop up to go into the desert to photograph. My wife has shown interest in my photography. It will be great to set up my dark room again!!

There seems to be so much to do there!

The more I talk you you guys here, the more I know like we are making the right choice moving out there.

She might surprise you and become accustomed to bugs once she's here. I've encountered more spiders here than anywhere else I've lived (VA, FL, CA, AZ, TX, LA, AL, Okinawa). I suppose it's been a good thing though, I've gone from running out of the room screaming when I see one and calling friends to come over and kill them, to the latest episode last week. Spider surprised me by scampering up the wall by my desk, unfortunately I missed him with the broom. I saw him scooting across the floor a little later and found myself thinking, "ah, he's on the other side of the room now, no biggie" followed by, "man, he was in a hurry, do spiders have appointments?" All while continuing to work at my desk.
