I've noticed the plot of land where the Flying Star is supposed to be erected is still vacant in Bernalillo.

Can anyone shed some light on this mystery?

They just received their construction permit in late July. They are building 3 story lofts as part of the development which required a zoning change.

Do you know if the lofts are going to be rental apartments or condos? Is there a website to take a look at the plans? THanks.

13- 1800 square foot lofts starting at 400k. Going to be a sweeet development once it gets done. Just a few minute walk from the rail runner.
I'm not sure if the lofts will include 1000 sf of retail space or if those are seperate. There was artist rendering somewhere several months ago I cannot seem to find it anymore.

Default Flying Star / Bernalillo

I spoke with the Flying Star a few months back. They were finalizing their design and admitted that they were very anal retentive about getting all the details right.

The Town of Bernalillo has a moritorium on construction near the Rail Runner Station until the end of August that may have delayed the project. I am not sure that the moritorium is on all construction or on issuance of building permits.

But it should start soon. I spoke to the sales agent that is selling the lofts and it sounded like they already had quite a bit of interest in the Lofts.

Oh yeah, I think someone asked if the lofts would be for sale or rent. They are for sale. But there is some nice rental property nearby in the adjacent Wallen Builders communities if you are interested in the area.

Thanks. there is a new building right across from Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church that looks like it will be retail. Is this where the new Flying Star is going to be?

Those buildings are historic buildings that have been updated. Not sure what will go in the buildings??? The flying star is just to the north of that. The old barn at the wine fest grounds is also getting redone for a wine growing mueseam.

Default Historic Buildings

Those other buildings were once used as a convent, as well as a high school. Most recently the El Zocalo Building had little shops in it.

Sandoval County is renovating them and they will be used as the new Economic Development offices.

Now that construction has started and seems to be progressing quickly, does anyone know when the Flying Star is supposed to open? Currently we're driving down to the Corrales store from northeast Rio Rancho when we need our Flying Star fix (at least twice a week!). Looking forward to the new one opening. Maybe this spring?
